Computer Service Software Fraud

Alert message sent 05/09/2019 09:47:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Got a call out of the blue offering to provide technical support for free regarding your computer or Broadband provider. It could be a SCAM!!  Check out the below tips to help you spot the Fraudsters....

  • Internet Service Providers or companies such as Microsoft do not make unsolicited phone calls to you to help you fix your computer.

  • Fraudsters will ask you to visit particular websites or download software programmes to fix the issues. Never do this as they want remote access to your computer.

  • Fraudsters may have some of your information such as email address, Full name or home address. They will use this info to gain your confidence and extract further personal and financial info from you.

  • Never give out personal or financial information such as Debit/Credit card Information.
