Begging

Alert message sent 17/08/2019 12:03:00

Information sent on behalf of Northamptonshire Police

Wellingborough Neighbourhood Policing Team are aware of a number of persons in our area possibly homeless begging in the town centre.

We as the local Police Team work very closely with other agencies to support and help any person who is homeless, we fully understand  seeing any person seemingly living and sleeping rough and sat on the pavement with bedding and belongings is a very emotive subject, the issues and concerns for any persons unfortunately in this position can often be complex and requires a variety of professional support and help.

As your local Neighbourhood Policing Team we kindly request that if you see any person or person you may believe to be homeless, then by all means if so desired give them water or a hot drink, but if you would like to give money then we kindly request that you donate the money to The Daylight Centre or other homeless charity , who support and help homeless people in our area this enables all monies donated to go directly to providing the help and support.

Council also provide professional help and support for anyone homeless in our area. For more information please go to, www.wellingborough.gov.uk

We are also supported by CCTV which helps us identify offenders from vulnerable persons who need support.
