Do not let thieves steal your summer

Alert message sent 22/07/2019 15:22:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

It’s not just the British weather that could ruin your summer but you can take a few simple steps to help reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime!

Being a victim of theft causes a great deal of inconvenience and upset for victims who may lose bank cards, mobile phones and irreplaceable items such as family photographs

• Never leave your mobile phone in plain sight on a bar or restaurant table – if it’s within your reach it’s also within reach of a thief
• Don’t hang your handbag on the back of a chair, out of your sight, under a table or leave it unattended
• Keep valuables – especially jewellery, cash and gadgets – out of sight. Put jewellery chains under clothing and mobile phones away when not in use
• Report loss of bank cards to the bank immediately
• Beat the pick-pockets – never put valuables in back pockets
• Use the cash machine inside a bank or building society if possible and alert bank staff to any suspicious activity
• Register your valuables on the FREE national property registration database www.immobilise.com
