Crime Prevention advice during the summer months
It isn’t just the British weather that good ruin your summer if you don’t take simple steps to help reduce your chances of becoming the next victim of crime.
During periods of hot weather there is traditionally an increase in burglaries where opportunist offenders take advantage of poor home security when people are tempted to leave windows and doors open.
*Around a quarter of all break- ins during the summer happen when homes are left unsecured.
*Make sure front windows and doors are secure when you are in the back garden.
*Check windows are closed and front and back doors are locked before going out or going to bed for the night.
*Use timer switches on lights and radios so that your home appears to be occupied.
*Don’t lend burglars a hand- put away all gardening tools and equipment.
