This Message is Distributed on Behalf of Scottish Gas Networks

SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. We also provide the gas emergency service in these areas.

As part of the new Jedburgh School Campus project, we’re upgrading our gas network in Jedburgh to meet the increased demand on our gas network.

Following close consultation with Scottish Borders Council our project will start on Monday 22 July 2019 and last approximately eight weeks.

From Monday 22 July, Fonthill Terrace will be closed in both directions for the duration of the project. A signed diversion route will be in place via Waterside Road, Priors Road, Stonehill Place and Forthill Avenue.

We’ll also need to close Bridge Street for everyone’s safety, from Monday 12 August for around five weeks. A signed diversion route will be in place via Bridge Street, High Street, Bongate, Bongate Gardens and Old Bongate.

During our project, parking will be suspended from 1 to 37 Bongate. Some bus stops in Bongate will also be closed, so please use an alternative. We’ll also need to use 3-way temporary traffic lights at Waterside Road’s junction with the A68 Bongate for around six weeks. The lights will be manually controlled during peak times to minimise inconvenience as much as possible.

We’ve worked closely with the local authorities in planning this work and we will be doing everything we can to limit disruption during our essential work in Jedburgh.

We appreciate that roadworks can be frustrating, however, the new plastic pipe has a minimum lifespan of 80 years. This means once the work is completed, Jedburgh homes and businesses will enjoy the benefits of a continued safe and reliable gas supply for many years to come.

We’ll be posting regular updates on our website https://www.sgn.co.uk/Roadworks/Scotland-projects/ and using social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed.

Please feel free to share this information with your stakeholders, colleagues and anyone else who may be impacted by our work. All local residents have been notified.

If you have any specific enquiries about this project, please call us on 01896 751 696 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or 0800 912 1700 and our customer service team will be happy to help.

I’d like to thank you in advance for your cooperation, support and understanding during this time.
