Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

The following information is being circulated on behalf of SGN

As you may be aware, SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. We also provide the gas emergency service in these areas.

I’m writing to let you know we will shortly be starting our £687,600 project to upgrade the gas network in the Lochlea Avenue area of Troon. This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.

Following discussions with South Ayrshire Council our project will start on Monday 1 July 2019 and last approximately 40 weeks.

We’ll be carrying out the work over three phases to help minimise disruption. Each phase is described below.

Phase one – approximately 18 weeks
On Monday 1st July, we will start work in Spey Road and Lugar Place. To ensure everyone’s safety, we will have to install temporary two-way temporary traffic lights in Lugar Place.  During this phase we will also be working in:

•             Ness Place
•             Annick Place
•             Clyde Place
•             Tay Road
•             Leven Road

On Monday 22 July, other teams will also start work in Deveron Road at its junction with Lochay Place. During this phase, we will also be working in:

•             Kilmory Place
•             Esk Road
•             Doon Place
•             Ruthven Place

To ensure everyone’s safety, we may have to install temporary two or three-way temporary traffic lights in Deveron Road.

Phase two – approximately 8 weeks
From Monday 12th August we will continue to work in Deveron Road. During this phase, we will also be working in:

•             Teviot Place
•             North Drive
•             Earn Road

Phase three – approximately 8 weeks
On Monday 9 September, we will begin working in Central Avenue at Merrick Ave.   During this phase, we will also be working in:

•             Lochlea Avenue
•             West Crescent
•             Mossgiel Avenue
