Information sent on behalf of Bedfordshire Police

Dear Residents
Please be extra vigilant as over the last few days we have seen a spike in reports of Burglaries.
Thefts are occurring from farm outbuildings, containers, sheds and garages, these offences are being committed during day light hours. It would appear that a vehicle is close by as large items have been stolen.  A blue tipper type vehicle with mesh/caged sides has been seen around at the time of these offences.

Offenders are equipped with heavy duty bolt croppers and they are not afraid to take their time to search for items they want.

Please take this opportunity to have a think about your own security and remember, if you see or hear anything that looks suspicious please call 101 at the time.  Alarms and  CCTV are all very well but basics such as gravel paths and dogs (that will alert you to visitors) can be very effective.   Please don’t leave your possessions/property insecure – make it difficult for them – the more time it takes for them to get to your possessions the less likely they are to target you – they will move onto softer targets.
There’s lots of crime prevention advice online or you can visit the Beds Police website (link below) for further information.  Alternatively I will be holding a Police Surgery at the Marston Vale Forest Centre on Satuday 15th June between 2/4pm.  Please come along to discuss any concerns you may have.  I'll have lots of free crime prevention advice, purse bells and personal hand held alarms.
