Do you sell electrical items on social media? Please read

Alert message sent 31/05/2019 13:38:00

Information sent on behalf of South Yorkshire Police

We have had some recent reports in relation suspects purchasing electrical items being advertised on social media with counterfeit notes.

If you do sell items on social media, please be aware of this.

You can purchase a counterfeit currency pen online from multiple places that will help you to identify if you have a fake banknote. If a black stain shows after using the pen on the note, it is likely to be fake. If the note remains the same with no black stain on it, the note is likely to be real.

Alternatively, if you go to the following website, this has further information on how to check your banknotes.
