SGN –  Gas Network Upgrade - Campbeltown

The following message has been circulated on behalf of SGN.
As you may be aware, SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. We also provide the gas emergency service in these areas.
I’m writing to let you know we will shortly be starting our £381,000 project to upgrade the gas network in Millknowe Road area of Campbeltown.
This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
Following discussions with Argyll and Bute Council, our project will start on Monday 13 May 2019 and last approximately 12 weeks.
On Monday 13 May, we’ll begin working in Roading at its junction with Glebe Street.  We’ll then progress east along Roading towards its junction with Glengyle Road. We may need to use temporary traffic lights during this stage of our work to ensure the safety of our engineers, but hope to carry out our work using priority signals.
When we reach Roading’s junction with Glengyle Road, we’ll need to close the exit of the Cooperative car park – buses will still be permitted to use it. Then we’ll progress south towards the A83 Millknowe Road. Once again, we may need to use temporary traffic lights during this stage.
The final stage of our project will be carried out in the A83 Millknowe Road, from its junction with Glengyle Road, up to the The Kilbrannan Bar in Longrow. For everyone’s safety, we’ll likely need to use temporary traffic lights as we progress south.
We’ll be posting regular updates on our website https://www.sgn.co.uk/Roadworks/ and using social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed.
Please feel free to share this information with anyone else who may be impacted by our work.
If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call us on 01586 552 516 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm), or call us on 0800 912 1700 outside these times
