Alert message sent 07/05/2019 10:12:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

The following information is being circulated on behalf of SGN

As you may be aware, SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. We also provide the gas emergency service in these areas.

I’m writing to let you know that we have started a £427,000 project to upgrade the gas network in the Tollcross Road area of Glasgow.

This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.

Following discussions with Glasgow City Council, our project started on Monday 1 April 2019.

We’ll be carrying out the work over four phases to help minimise disruption. Each phase is described below.

Phase one – approximately four weeks
On Monday 1 April we began working in Drumover Drive and Tennyson Drive. We’re carrying out this phase without road/lane closures or the use of temporary traffic lights.

Phase two – approximately two weeks
From Tuesday 23 April, we’ll be working in Muiryfauld Drive, between its junctions with Quarrybrae Street and Tollcross Road. As in phase one, we’ll carry out this phase without road/lane closures or the use of temporary traffic lights.

Phase three – approximately three weeks
From Monday 6 May, we’ll be working in Dunkeld Street and Strathbran Street. We’ll also be working in Helenvale Street, between its junctions with Dunkeld Street and Dechmont Street. We may need to install temporary traffic lights while we’re working in Helenvale Street to ensure everyone’s safety.

During our fourth and final phase, we’ll be working in Tollcross Road. This work is yet to be agreed with Glasgow City Council. We’ll let you know details as soon as possible.

We’re also using social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone else who may be impacted by our work.

If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call project manager Scott Murdoch on 07976 292 347 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or on 0800 912 1700 outside these times.
