Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

The following information is being circulated on behalf of SGN

As you may be aware, SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. We also provide the gas emergency service in these areas.

I’m writing to let you know we’ll shortly begin our £528,000 project to upgrade the gas network in Darnley Road, Glasgow. This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.

Following discussions with Glasgow City Council, our project will start on Monday 18 March and will last approximately 14 weeks. We’ll be carrying out the work over three phases to help minimise disruption. Each phase is described below.

Phase one – approximately five weeks
On Monday 18 March, we’ll be working in Darnley Road between Nithsdale Road and Boleyn Road. To ensure everyone’s safety, while we’re working in the public footpath, temporary walkways will be in place for pedestrians.

Phase two – approximately five weeks
From Monday 22 April, we’ll be working in Darnley Road between Boleyn Road and the traffic lights at Minard Road.  To ensure everyone’s safety, we’ll need to close one lane in Darnley Road for motorists heading southward towards Titwood Road.

Phase three – approximately four weeks
From Monday 20 May, we’ll be working in Darnley Road between the traffic lights at Minard Road and Henry’s Honda. We will be working in the public footpath however, to ensure everyone’s safety, temporary walkways will be in place for pedestrians.

You can find more about our work in your area by searching on https://www.sgn.co.uk/Roadworks/ We also use social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone else who may be impacted by our work.
