Ashbourne pub working with police following warrant

Alert message sent 04/02/2019 08:30:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Constabulary

A pub in Ashbourne is working alongside our officers following a drug warrant last weekend.

Having received information and following concerns from the community, officers carried out a search at Ye Olde Vaults, on the Market Place, at 10am on Saturday, January 26.

A number of items, which we believe may be connected to illegal drugs, were seized by officers and the licence holder of the pub decided to voluntarily close for 24 hours. No arrests were made.

The licence holder and their management team are working alongside officers as enquiries continue, and will be carrying out further training with staff around their drugs and age verification policies.

The pub re-opened to the public on Sunday, January 27.

Sgt. Paul Simmons, of the Ashbourne Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are continuing to work alongside the licence holder at the Ye Olde Vaults, who is fully cooperating with our enquiries and has taken action as part of a shared commitment to make sure the premises is being run safely, responsibly and legally.

“If you have any information relating to the misuse of drugs in your community, please report it to us or anonymously through Crimestoppers. We will always investigate and act on any information we receive."
