Two men arrested in connection with burglaries in Oxford

Two men have been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries in Oxford that are believed to be linked.

A 33-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and trespassing on a premises with intent to commit a sexual offence. He has been released on police bail until 15 March.

A 25-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a premises with intent to commit a sexual offence. He has been released under investigation.

The arrests are in connection with eight incidents where an offender gained entry to properties on Nye Bevan Close, East Avenue, Divinity Road, Cowley Road and Leopold Street between Sunday 25 November and Sunday 9 December, between the times of 2.25am and 6am.

Investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Riddell, of the Investigation Hub at Oxford police station, said: “We would also like to remind residents to remain vigilant, and remember to keep doors and windows to their properties locked and secure while they are out, and also at night.”
