Alert message sent 16/01/2019 11:28:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch Scotland

The information below is being circulated on behalf of SGN

As you may be aware, SGN manages the network that distributes natural and green gas to 5.9 million homes and businesses across Scotland and the south of England. We also provide the gas emergency service in these areas.

I’m writing to let you know we will shortly be starting our £175,000 project to upgrade the gas network in the Victoria Road area of Barrhead. This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.

Following discussions with East Renfrewshire Council, our project will start on Monday 21 January and last approximately 20 weeks. We’ll be carrying out the work over four phases to help minimise disruption. Each phase is described below.

Phase 1 – approximately three weeks
On Monday 21 January we will be working in Victoria Road between its junction with Paisley Road and Victoria Gardens. To ensure everyone’s safety, we will close the footpath on one side of the road and in addition, temporary three-way traffic lights may be required at the junction of Victoria Road and Paisley Road.

Phase 2 – approximately eight weeks
From Monday 11 February, we will be working in Paisley Road between Victoria Road and Fereneze Grove. During this phase, to ensure everyone’s safety and minimise disruption, we may have to install temporary two-way traffic lights.

Phase 3 – approximately six weeks
From Monday 1 April, we will be working in Paisley Road from its junction with Fereneze Grove and the railway bridge. During this phase we will also be working in Carlibar Road from the train station to number 34 Carlibar Road.
To ensure everyone’s safety and to minimise disruption to traffic flow, temporary four-way traffic lights will be installed in place of the permanent four-way lights at the junction of Paisley Road and Graham Street and at the junction of Cross Arthurlie Street and Carlibar Road.
We hope to complete this phase without any additional traffic management.

Phase 4 – approximately three weeks
From Monday 20 May, we will be working in Carlibar Road from outside number 34, to the Arthurlie Football Club entrance. To ensure everyone’s safety, temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place around our work area.

We’ll be posting regular updates on our website https://www.sgn.co.uk/Roadworks/Scotland-projects/ and using social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed.

Please feel free to share this information with anyone else who may be impacted by our work.

If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call project manager Scott McLymont 07776 162 901 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or on 0800 912 1700 outside these times.
