Scam alert

Alert message sent 10/01/2019 10:03:00

Information sent on behalf of Cambridgeshire Constabulary

Message for NHW coordinators,

A resident in Murrow has been contacted by telephone to inform them that they have a cheque for a large sum of money waiting with their name on and all they need to do in order to receive this is to put money on "safe cards".
If you receive calls of this nature they are a scam and we would ask that you hang up, these people can be very plausible, however you can't win something you haven't entered and if you win a competition they would never ask you to send money to claim your prize.

Please could you pass this message out to your members and other residents in your local area that you feel would benefit from this advice.

Also if you see persons or vehicles in and around the area acting suspiciously please call the police with index numbers and descriptions. And if you receive a call like this please report it to the police on the non emergency number 101

regards Julie Hanrahan
Crime Prevention and Community Safety Officer.
