SGN – Gas Network Upgrade – Glasgow
The following message is being circulated on behalf of SGN:
I’m writing to let you know we will shortly be starting our £144,000 project to upgrade the gas network in West Street, Glasgow. This essential work involves the replacement of old, metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure a continued safe and reliable gas supply.
Following discussions with Glasgow City Council our project will start on Tuesday 8 January and last approximately five weeks.  We’ll be carrying out the work over three phases to help minimise disruption. Each phase is described below.
Phase 1 – approximately one and a half weeks
On Tuesday 8 January we will be working opposite number 323 West Street.
Phase 2 – approximately two weeks
From Monday 21 January, we will be working in West Street from Kilbirnie Street to West Street railway bridge.
Phase 3 – approximately one and half weeks
From Monday 4 February we will be working in West Street from the railway bridge to the junction of West Street and Scotland Street. During this phase, to ensure everyone’s safety, we will install temporary two-way traffic lights in Scotland Street at its junction with West Street.
We’ll be posting regular updates on our website https://www.sgn.co.uk/Roadworks/Scotland-projects/ and using social media and traffic bulletins to keep residents and motorists informed. Please feel free to share this information with anyone else who may be impacted by our work.
If you have any other enquiries about this project, please call project manager Paul Nisbet on 07815 867 962 during office hours (8am to 4.30pm) or on 0800 912 1700 outside these times
