Alert message sent 24/11/2018 12:15:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

To all cyclist , the rule of thumb when the street lights are on so should cyclist bike lights. Too many are cycling on the roads and cycle paths without any lights on thinking the reflectors do the job and no reflective clothing.

Rule 60 of the Highway Code, which says:
"At night your cycle MUST have white front and red rear lights lit. It MUST also be fitted with a red rear reflector (and amber pedal reflectors, if manufactured after 1/10/85). White front reflectors and spoke reflectors will also help you to be seen. Flashing lights are permitted but it is recommended that cyclists who are riding in areas without street lighting use a steady front lamp."

There have been major collisions involving cyclists due to having no lights in the past! Please don't put yourself at risk or anyone else for that matter.
