How can we make a real difference to Road Safety

Alert message sent 08/11/2018 16:13:00

Information sent on behalf of Gloucestershire Constabulary

Cllr Charles Pendrick from Rodborough, Stroud spent time last night (7th November 2018) presenting his findings to Forest Cllrs about how they have successfully generated measurable results in reducing the overall speed of drivers and can now identify the worst offenders, using the support of the police to change behaviours.

Charles explained to the group that devices called Automated Number Plate Recognition owned and governed by communities in Stroud have made their roads safer. Having seen his presentation at a number of events I can say I'm impressed by what I have seen and heard.

The event was well attended and there was considerable enthusiasm for the devices. Charles was able to explain about funding opportunities and offer advice about the journey he and his colleagues have been on. Stroud now have four devices and one is about to go live in Bourton on the Water.

If you are interested in learning more then simply type into the internet Rodborough ANPR and the first sites you come across will be the parish councils information on the subject and a BBC report.
