Potential disorder - Reading Town Centre

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Following reports of potential disorder and violence in Reading town centre tonight, Thames Valley Police officers will be carrying out patrols in the area.
 

Officers have also been granted powers to carry out searches of people under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
 

If our officers believe there is a risk of violence, they will carry out these searches in order to ensure the safety of the public.
 

Anyone wishing to report an incident should call the non-emergency number 101, or 999 in an emergency.
