Witnesses sought after aggravated burglary at a Pear Tree home

Alert message sent 16/04/2018 14:40:00

Information sent on behalf of Derbyshire Police & Crime Commissioner

We’re appealing for witnesses after a break-in at a house in Pear Tree Crescent.

On Saturday, April 7 between 9pm and 9.40pm four burglars forced open the rear door to a home, whilst the owners were asleep inside.

The burglars, all men, wore dark-coloured clothing and had their faces covered.

One of the burglars carried a sharp item, believed to be a screwdriver, and entered a bedroom awaking a 67-year-old man.

The other three burglars awoke a 67-year-old woman, who tried to shout for help. The burglars pinned her down to the bed repeatedly and put their hands over her mouth.

The burglars stole jewellery, documents and a quantity of cash. It is believed they travelled to the house in a dark-coloured car.

Anyone who noticed anything suspicious around the area at this time, or who saw a dark-coloured car nearby should contact DC Lucy Iriwn on 101, quoting reference number 18000156773.

Alternatively, send her a message online by visiting the Contact Us section of our website www.derbyshire.police.uk/Contact-Us. You can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
