TACKLING SPEEDING IN YOUR AREA

Alert message sent 12/01/2018 17:37:00

Information sent on behalf of West Mids Police

Dear Resident

Your LEOS Neighbourhood Team were out today dealing with one of the main issues raised by yourselves, this being Speeding.

The three roads targeted today were Melton Avenue, Damson Parkway and Broad Oaks Road.  A Pro Laser Device was used to measure the exact speed at which each vehicle was travelling.

The end result was that at least 40 drivers were found exceeding the speed limit by a small amount.  These drivers were advised about the dangers of speeding and that even the smallest amount of excess speed can cause serious injury.

However, there were a few drivers who were exceeding the speed limit to a larger degree and these were dealt with by means of an Endorsable Penalty Ticket, which means they will receive a fine as well as three points of their licence.  In total six Endorsable Penalty Tickets were given out today.

The aim of such operations is to prevent and deter repetitive behaviour patterns of speeding and we hope this will send a strong message to all the rest of the road users, who contemplate speeding.

We are aware that this is an ongoing issue and therefore we will continue to carry out such operations in the near future, as well as dealing with other issues which affect the residents of Solihull.

Kind Regards

Wajid Mohammed
